I’m sure we can all think of a number of things that drain us of our life force or steal our energy. Obsessive negativity, excessive screen use, substance abuse, toxic people — and this list is only scratching the surface. So if we find ourself swimming in an ocean of energy-zappers, what can we do to recharge?

Thankfully there are several strategies available to us that allow us to refuel and restore our energy. Although there are countless options, I’m going to share 8 of my favorites “energy givers” with you here. And guess why they’re my favorite? It’s because they’re FREE!

  1. Connect with nature — whether you’re reading at the park, sitting by a sunny window, or working in your garden, letting natural sunlight and fresh air surround you can boost your mood and energy levels significantly.
  2. Move your body — from gentle movement like stretching or walking to more intense activity like Zumba class or running a marathon, movement is never a bad idea. Your mind and body will thank you!
  3. Practice mindfulness — meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply sitting in silence can help us to clear mental clutter and restore a sense of inner tranquillity.
  4. Stay hydrated — dehydration literally leaves us feeling lifeless, so drink up buttercup! H2O is your friend 🙂
  5. Give thanks — make a list of things you’re grateful for and tell me you don’t feel lighter already! Anxiety and gratitude cannot coexist. See what I’m grateful for here.
  6. Tap into your creativity — creativity allows for self expression which often leaves us feeling both rejuvenated and inspired!
  7. Prioritize sleep — good sleep is essential for our well-being. During restful sleep, our bodies heal, our minds process the day’s events, and our energy is restored.
  8. Nurture meaningful connections — don’t underestimate the power of connection. Making time for healthy relationships might just be the fuel you need to keep going.

Incorporating these energy givers into your daily life doesn’t require a drastic overhaul. Start with one that really resonates with you, and gradually build as you go. I guarantee that implementing these free practices leaves you feeling more energized, balanced, and ready to tackle whatever life throws your way!
